Conspiracy: Adrenochrome, Elixir of the Degenerate Elite?
The earliest mention of adrenochrome as a drug appears in Hunter S. Thompson’s 1971 novel Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. The protagonist, Raoul Duke, describes adrenochrome as a “fear‑based” hallucinogen: “There is only one source for this stuff… the adrenaline glands from a living human body. It’s not something you can get at the corner drugstore.”
